Agra to Delhi
Left the hotel in the bus at 5am to go to the Taj Mahal carpark. Then it was battery operated golf carts to the entrance. It was still dark but lots of people queuing already. Lucky for us, we had Giri and another tour guide to push us through the line. The gates opened at 5.45am and then we had to be patted down before getting in. They are very strict with what they allow in. We had been advised not to bring a bag as this would have to be x-rayed and it would slow us down.
Then, finally we saw the Taj Mahal! It was spectacular. Our guide told us the story behind it and then we were left to explore for an hour and a half by ourselves. I watched the sunrise from near the Yamuna River and took plenty of photos of the sun rising behind the Taj Mahal.
Then another line to go inside. Had to wear shoe covers and you’re not allowed to take photos inside. absolutely loved being here and a wonderful end to an amazing holiday.
Back on the bus to Delhi which was about 4 hours drive. Went for a walk down the street to the markets and it’s amazing what 2 weeks in India does to you. Two weeks ago we were overwhelmed and couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel. Now, we’re walking confidently through the rubbish and brushing off the beggars 😂
