We all woke up early and after some breakfast, headed out to Eungella National Park.
The kids didn’t know, but Dad and Alan Mara were up this way on their motorbikes and we’d arranged to meet up as a surprise for the kids. We were supposed to meet at the top of the mountain, but at the bottom of the mountain we ended up finding them. Just past Finch Hatton, I saw a sign that said Platypus Beach so decided to stop in and take a look. As I’m pulling off the road, I look down and see Dad’s and Alan’s motorbikes parked below. I couldn’t believe it! We drive past their bikes and Sammi says that looks like Poppy’s bike and I laughed to myself. Then Dad and Alan came walking up the hill. Sammi couldn’t get out of the car fast enough. Had two very excited kids 🤣
We then went up the mountain and out to Broken River to see the Platypuses. I was worried that the water was flowing too fast to see them, but we were super lucky and saw a few. It’s an amazing thing to see them in the wild. Also saw some cute turtles.
Went back to Eungella Chalet and had lunch with Dad and Alan, before they went out west around 1pm. We drove back down the mountain and up to Proserpine and then Airlie Beach.
Checked in to the motel and then to went back out and drove around to have a look around. Went down to Shute Harbour, up to Mandalay and around town.
